I visited the tree planted at Marrow Bone Springs Park to pay my respects in memory of Leona Swafford (“On anniversary of elderly woman’s death, Arlington police renew call for tips,” June 4).
With dismay, I observed that the trunk of the newly planted red oak tree was not wrapped.
Neil Sperry has advised us many times that young red oak trees must be protected with paper tree wrap. Otherwise, our Texas summer sun will scald the trees and likely lead to an early death.
To those responsible for the planting of this important tree: Please wrap it!
Never miss a local story.
