I came to Fort Worth in 1976. One of the first things when we had visitors was to take them to old Cowtown (the Stockyards), day or night.
Then they still had cattle auctions, cattle pens, hitching posts, older buildings — more of the Old West look.
At night, there were bars with country-western music and dancing. It was a lot of fun in old Fort Worth, then especially to visitors from the Northeast.
It has been changed a lot since then.
Never miss a local story.
Don’t change it anymore.
