All Points: Take Redskins’ trademarks from team?

A panel of judges with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has voted to cancel the trademarks of the Washington Redskins NFL team, citing the name as “disparaging” to American Indians. Public polling shows no consensus about the name, but owner Dan Snyder insists it is not offensive, but is an honorific. Is it time for the team to change its controversial name? Or is this another case of the politically correct police and government overreach? Send no more than 150 words with your name, address and phone number to letters@star-telegram.com. Deadline is Wednesday for publication next Monday.
