I am concerned at inaccurate descriptions of the students at Arlington’s Venture High School (“Arlington school bond includes junior high demolition, rezoning,” May 7.)
Venture is a school of choice for at-risk students. They come from a variety of backgrounds and for a variety of reasons.
Contrary to what some believe, students learn how to set goals, to focus on their studies and to be successful in life. They come to earn a diploma, often against enormous odds.
I proudly taught at Venture for 18 years, retiring last May. This year I volunteer.
The students are wonderful young men and women who, along with the outstanding faculty, administration and staff, work hard each day to achieve their goals.
They do not deserve the unkind and untrue characterization.
