Keeping it small

I’m an American Airlines retiree.
Quite a few years ago at one of our employee meetings, Herb Kelleher was invited to be the guest speaker. He and Bob Crandall were evidently pretty good friends.
During the question-and-answer portion, someone asked Herb what made Southwest Airlines successful
Herb, with the standard drink and cigarette in his hands, replied:
“As long as we stay in our niche we will be successful.
“Leave the overseas and long hauls for the big boys.”
Pretty smart man?
