During a private conversation, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling made comments on race that drew him a firestorm of news coverage, then a $2.5 million fine and lifetime expulsion from the NBA. Other NBA owners could force him to sell the team.

Does the punishment fit his offense? Should comments in private be considered offensive? Would it be different if the comments were from an NBA player?
