The last five years have been difficult financially for many Americans, particularly many veterans.
Many veterans especially struggle through the transition period from military service to civilian life. More than 8 percent (121,419) of Tarrant County residents are veterans.
One in six of these veterans has a service-related disability affecting his or her employability.
If you or someone in your family is an unemployed veteran, please know that job training and career support is now available through Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth.
Through a $5 million grant from the Walmart Foundation, Goodwill is providing services through Operation: GoodJobs, a program designed to give veterans, spouses and adult dependents (ages 18-24) the tools and resources they need to reach their educational, financial and career goals.
Operation: GoodJobs is expected to assist 300 to 500 veterans locally through job placement; one-on-one career counseling and job training; and appropriate referrals for mental health, housing and benefits assistance and military to civilian transition mentoring services.
Find out more about Operation: GoodJobs by contacting Chandra Gullette at 817.459.2100, ext. 2280 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
