History months

Bob Ray Sanders’ article, “Black History Month: Embrace it, don’t resent it,” started positively. However, writing that there are 12 white history months was a racial remark.

I don’t recall history books including only whites and excluding other races. So, how are 12 months devoted to white history? There are plenty of noteworthy people of all races who are not in history books.

He didn’t mention that Hispanics have Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, Asians have May and Native Americans have November. Maybe to be fair we need to have history months for every culture: German, Polish, Russian, Spanish, English, Australian, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Ethiopian, Egyptian, Brazilian ... Oh, wait! I’m already out of months.

Why can’t we just call it history and include every race and culture and not make some “more equal” than others?
