According to John Boehner the GOP will not support immigration reform because they do not trust President Obama to enforce immigration law. Funny. President Obama has deported almost 2 million immigration violaters since he was elected. The “do nothing” GOP needs to step up and stop the games.

The best method to increase wages is a strong demand for labor. Many jobs today are occupied by illegal immigrants. These are jobs that could or should be occupied by legal residents. Salaries will rise as the demand to fill those jobs increases. A growing job market and an increased demand for labor is the best assurance of a competitive wage.

Current policy uses tax dollars to subsidize unemployed legal residents while concurrently subsidizing or encouraging illegal immigration. What penalties do undocumented residents incur? They have access to healthcare at county hospitals and education for their American born children.

Why would “undocumented” workers want to become citizens? In many ways they have more freedom from government regulation than legal residents.

This is not a complicated issue but it does require courage and belief in American values. America provides an environment where those who work hard have an opportunity to succeed. As a sovereign nation, the right to choose who comes here should be preserved. It should not be a de facto result of a refusal to enforce that right.
