Greene, Trump and Thomas Jefferson
I agree with Richard Greene’s assessment of the comment made by Jeff Flake comparing Trump to Stalin.
But then he went completely off the rails comparing Trump’s disdain for the news media with that of Thomas Jefferson.
May I suggest Greene return to his former life as a politician? His defending Trump’s attack on journalists paints as the rank partisan we all know him to be.

Let’s tackle litter problem
I understand how the “Litter Lady” feels. We have the same problem on the east side of Fort Worth. In fact, all of Fort Worth is appalling with all the litter as you drive the highways, shopping centers and streets. Apparently adults are a lost cause, but I would like to see teachers take notice, even take pictures, and talk to their students about the litter problem.
So much is said about being “green.” How about “Green and Clean for Texas.” Maybe the students can encourage their parents to “Please Don’t Litter.”

Trump doesn’t respect military
There is a line from the movie titled “Flight of the Phoenix” used against a stubborn pilot, who says “You act as if stupidity is a virtue.” When it comes to honor, we could say something similar about our president.
Trump does not respect our nation’s history or the men and women in our military. During the Vietnam War he said he served by staying home and chasing women. He jokes at the expense of those who actually served their country.
My father’s older brother was killed in France in World War I. I served 13 months with the Marines in Vietnam. Trump jokes about Vietnam.
If he would care to ask anybody who was actually there, they could tell him there ain’t nothing funny about war.

Why do men get to call the shots?
Women are tired of old white men establishing laws for our bodies. You’ve already made women’s healthcare nearly impossible for low-income families. It’s shameful!
Do you realize that birthrates will increase, along with poverty and the number of people on public assistance, due to your bad decisions?
Quit trying to be our moral compass. We need safe, affordable birth control. Instead you choose to demonize women who find themselves in a situation that is already difficult. Our body, our choice.
Make all birth control accessible, and fewer women will have to make the difficult decision between an abortion or something else. Cutting off access to safe abortions will lead to dangerous back-alley abortions.
Did you know we are No. 1 in mothers dying during pregnancy and childbirth? Start doing what’s right for women and families!
Amber James Montgomery,
Sick and tired of sexual harassment
Nearly every day we open the newspaper and there are new sexual harassment accusations against a powerful person.
They are usually forced to resign. All accusations, regardless of credibility, are accepted as truth, and the accused is usually convicted in the public forum.
The liberal media is leading the charge — the same media that recently nominated Migos and other hip-hop artists for the Grammys even though some of their music promotes prostitution, strip clubs, pimps, the manufacture and sale of illegal drugs, excessive drinking and attacking police.
How can the media support the hip-hop culture, its degradation of women, the promotion of drugs, easy money and unlimited sex while condemning these men over making sexual comments or flirting with a co-worker? It’s a double standard.

Trump not stopping cyberattacks
The daily controversies created by and about President Trump overshadow the troubling fact that Trump is doing nothing to protect our country against Russian cyber-interference in American elections.
Trump is ignoring the findings of the U.S. intelligence agencies and is failing to protect our nation from Russian cyberattacks.
One can only speculate why Trump refuses to ever criticize Russia and Putin. Trump’s refusal to protect our nation against Russian cyberattacks is a serious dereliction of his presidential duty.
