Double standard for women?
Am I the only person who thinks it is strange that the businesses that refuse to pay for contraceptives for women seemingly are not against paying for Viagra for men. Guess it is still an unfair playing field for women. Enjoy sexual satisfaction but risk pregnancy.
This decision is said to be based on religious belief of the busines owners. Guess they never think that an unwanted pregnancy could lead to abortion, which they are also against. Which is worse ... prevent an unwanted pregnancy or terminate an unwanted pregnancy?

Tax assessor scraps United Way drive
Our esteemed tax assessor, Ron Wright, admits what a small-minded person he is by canceling a United Way drive so that Planned Parenthood would not receive any funds from it, thus depriving many other charities as well. I definitely will not vote for him or any other like-minded candidate.

Abbott lauded on voting rights
In reference to Monday’s article about increased scrutiny of Gov. Greg Abbott over his role in protecting Texas voting rights, I say kudos to him for protecting those rights.
There is almost nothing we do in our daily intercourse with government or business that does not require some sort of ID, password or whatever.
Yet the Democrats would have us literally open up our voting booths to anyone and everyone who claims the right to vote without the most basic ID.
Why is that? Because that is how they win elections! Look at California. Do we want Texas to become a mess such as that state has become? All we have to do is allow anyone to vote no matter his or her eligibility.
Property taxes are just too high
I recently complained to my state Rep. Giovanni Capriglione about high property taxes and his response was unsatisfactory. Property taxes are now so high that the government has become a partner in the property and the cities, HOAs.
At normal appreciation rates of 5 percent a year, I pay 3.56 percent to the county, and I make 1.44 percent. Wrong scenario.
Owning property is one of the great rights of this country, started in the original Massachusetts Colony by Governor Bradford, and it’s now being threatened.
At 80 years old, I’m selfish, and I do not want the state as a partner in my property. I also do not want to pay for someone else’s education, healthcare, welfare or anything that I don’t use.
Vote for Mike Snyder
With TV full of ads to help the viewers stiff their creditors, avoid their taxes and cash in on some class-action suit, it’s refreshing to see a man like Mike Snyder not only take care of his family but also accept the responsibility and pay his own way.
One might wonder if the issue was publicized to discredit Snyder or promote an opponent.
In either case Snyder has shown he is a man of honor and can be trusted in the position of tax assessor-collector.

Trump’s his own man
Few like what President Trump said about other countries, and he clearly lacks tact. However, few like the endless negative news. It is an affront to our democracy.
