FW west side’s ‘Litter Lady’ back
The west side “Litter Lady” is back. The trash around the west side is even worse than it was a year ago. Since we can’t use prison trusties, people on welfare or those doing community service to collect the litter, how about the Junior League, Rotary, Young Life or church youth groups?
I’d lay bets that 60 percent of our residents grew up in a pig pen or are just lazy! If I can do this at age 75, a few others can get off their duffs and help.
Monica “Posy” McMillen,
Never miss a local story.
Why would doctor OK many surgeries?
Regarding the Christopher Bowen story (Munchausen’s story, Dec. 21.), how did the mother talk the doctors into performing so many “unnecessary” surgeries without running tests to determine if surgery was needed?
In my experience, the doctors have determined when surgery was required, not the parent. Any doctor that would perform surgery without testing should be, at the very least, sanctioned. If he or she have done it more than once, they should not be practicing medicine.
Write thoughtful letters, not spin
A recent letter called for more conservatives to write letters.
The problem is not a lack of conservative or liberal-leaning letters, but rather that so many letters are based on political “spin,” the bias that either party attempts to sell instead of fact.
For example, while many letters have been written about the tax bill, both for it and against it, few have discussed how the bill may actually affect a person’s bottom line, and why such changes are made.
So I ask readers to think beyond the headlines and 140-character tweets, and engage with politicians and bills. Write about policy, not just ideology.
Declan Riley Kunkel,
Ease up on attacking Trump
The unrelenting attacks on our presidents must stop. Fortunately, the efforts of right-wing zealots to unseat President Obama failed, and the attacks by zealous liberals on the presidency of Donald Trump must also fail.
I was not a fan of Obama, and aspects of Trump’s presidency are troubling.
However, attacks on the president are attacks on the office itself and the democratic process of an elected government.
The party that doesn’t win must get back to taking the position of the “loyal opposition.”
After all, if it turns out the system got it wrong, the nation can fix it in just four years.
Why are liberals blasting president?
After a year of economic, financial, and business success under President Trump, why are Democratic liberals continuing to make up stories detrimental to Trump and his administration?
Mark Cuban predicting the market would crater if Trump became president is now more laughable than it was when Cuban said it.
Why would anyone predict a business downturn under Trump, a successful businessman, when they didn’t when Barack Obama was in office?
Why was the MLK parade canceled?
I’m one of those folks (an old white guy) who believes Martin Luther King was one of the most important, positive historical figures ever.
I understand the technical reason for canceling the Arlington parade. But a minority of the minority once again deprived a larger audience from paying their respects.
We may have crossed the line between minority rights and minority rule.
I am saddened by the vision of streets empty of families and children who wanted only to pay their respects to one of the most important and constructive political figures of our time.
Vindictiveness and hatred have won again.

What? Presidents are vulgar?
Do you not think for one minute that Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and other presidents spoke this way? We just never heard about it. President Trump has not figured out that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.
I know this: The United States is much better off 12 months later than we would have been with Hillary Clinton, with the undoing of the executive orders, the appointments of constitutionalist judges, tax reform and support for our military.
Do I still support him? Compared to Clinton and Democrats, the answer is yes.

Can’t argue with Trump
I’ve been to some of those countries, and I can’t argue with President Trump. If they’re so great, then anyone illegally here should have no problem going back and applying to immigrate legally.
