Cheers for Johnson County JP
Thanks for the conservative leadership style of Johnson County Justice of the Peace Jeff Monk since 2003.
Serving in Precinct 2 as a Republican, I staunchly agree with his involvement with promoting local youth, being fair and making the right decisions at the right time, while reflecting upon the U.S. Constitution.
Medical child abuse is a real problem
Medical child abuse (previously “Munchausen’s by Proxy”) is not as rare as people think. Every pediatrician has seen a case.
One obstetrician suspected his patient caused her own vomiting during her pregnancy. She then feigned vomiting with her baby, withholding food. The baby failed to grow, resulting in a feeding tube. Proving this took time.
Mothers are typically the perpetrators. They’re savvy enough to invent symptoms and familiar with medical jargon.
Physicians are not the culprits here. Like everyone, we never want to suspect a mother.
These culprits withhold food or medicine or even give children harmful agents. Their children often have a real underlying diagnosis.
Suspecting families need to speak out. Courts need to keep their eyes open to abuse as a possibility.
Physicians need help uncovering the truth.

How to drive on a roundabout
In the past few months I have become convinced that Texas should create a PSA on how to drive on a roundabout.
I have seen drivers come to a stop and sit (not sure what they’re waiting for), stop while on the roundabout, pull in front of someone already on the roundabout and recently I actually saw a woman turn left onto a roundabout then, when she realized what she’d done, put her car into reverse and drove backward on it!!.
Roundabouts are becoming more prevalent, so I propose that Texas create a PSA, then make viewing it a requirement to license your vehicle or renew your driver’s license.
Dems assailed over MLK celebration
Boo to Democrat leaders Nancy Bean and Deborah Peoples for demanding that Gov. Greg Abbott not be able to participate in the celebration of a great American, Martin Luther King Jr.
Racism is ugly, shameful and counterproductive regardless of who is promoting segregation policies or actions.
Stocking a polluted river with fish
I find it interesting that the Trinity River is being stocked with rainbow trout. That would be very nice, if it weren’t for the fact that you have also reported the river is being polluted downriver with arsenic and benzene.
Why would money be wasted to stock the river with fish that might not be able to be eaten when caught?
It seems that it would be more prudent to take the funds used for the fish to help stop the pollution issue.
