Laughing all the way to the bank
Congressional purse-snatchers are rushing through a tax giveaway vote before the holidays so the richest Americans get to enjoy more “merry” with our “jingle.” Hope they trip up.

Waiters might not make as much
Never miss a local story.
Should restaurant owners be allowed to keep all tips earned by waiters? Apparently, the Trump administration thinks so. The Trump Department of Labor wants to change the Fair Labor Standards Act Regulations.
In doing so, the Trump administration will be giving lobbyists a gift that they have long wanted — the ability to capture tips. The manner in which this new regulation is written will allow restaurant owners to pocket any of the tips that you believed you were leaving for your waiter.
The regulations were written specifically to give restaurant owners a $6.1 billion tip each year at the expense of workers making $7.25 per hour. You have until January 4, 2018, to make a comment on this regulation change.
Why does Trump praise Putin?
My question is: Why does our president criticize the legitimate media, lawmakers, FBI and CIA, among others? Yet he has praise for Russian President Putin, and seldom, if ever, has criticized him. It seems Trump likes a country’s leader who controls the press, government and intelligence bureaus and ...oh, wait, I think I answered my own question.

Trump and the Middle East
When Donald Trump appointed an all-Jewish U.S. negotiation team from his NYC network of friends and family, it should have been a sign to the Palestinians that they stood no chance in the Israel-Palestinian peace process.
Add in big campaign contributions from the likes of pro-Israel supporters like casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, and Trump’s decision to move the U.S Embassy to Jerusalem was inevitable.
I’m tired of seeing my tax dollars and American troops head off to the Middle East to support policies that are so skewed in favor of Israel that it is almost laughable. The bottom line is that the U.S needs a more balanced policy that is fair to all parties or there will never be a real chance of peace in the Middle East. That will obviously not happen with Donald Trump as president.

Use checks and balances
When will our elected representatives and senators wake up to the fact that we, their constituents, are watching the aspirations of an autocrat in the White House. This was readily apparent when our leader began his slurred speech on recognizing Jerusalem with “I have decided….”. There is no “we” in “I.”
Isn’t it time for them to use their powers of checks and balances to put a stop to some of these actions that are hurting our country? When will we the people come together to use our power of the vote, to replace those who are not representing our best interests.

Tongue in cheek?
How could Alabama not elect a Trump supporter and fine upstanding Christian like Roy Moore? How will America ever be great again? Without Moore’s support of the tax cuts, how will the rich get richer? Would he keep Trump from being impeached?
