Albert Einstein supposedly said that the measure of one’s intelligence is in his or her ability to change.
If that’s the case, the residents of Fort Worth all deserve MENSA memberships, at least when it comes to their capacity to adapt to the perpetually changing traffic patterns that have become a way of life in North Texas.
And another change is coming, just in time for the weekend.
As the Star-Telegram’s Gordon Dickson reported on Friday, by Saturday morning a westbound I-30 entrance ramp at Summit Avenue and an exit ramp at Forest Park Boulevard, just southwest of downtown, should be permanently closed for business.

The plan was to shutter the ramps sometime after rush-hour traffic subsided on Friday evening.
The closure will accommodate a new westbound frontage road from Summit Avenue toward University Drive.
After the ramps are sent to pasture, westbound traffic headed for Forest Park Boulevard will be funneled down the I-30 frontage road.
But motorists still will be able to access westbound I-30 from the Parkview Drive entrance ramp.
All these changes are being made in advance of the 28-mile Chisholm Trail Parkway toll road opening, a North Texas Tollway Authority project that’s one of many ongoing construction efforts that have kept the region awash in orange cones.
The much-hyped Chisholm Trail will eventually connect downtown Fort Worth to Cleburne.
The NTTA is clamoring to open the tollway — at least a substantial portion of it — by its self-imposed May 11 deadline, but as Dickson reported, some of the road work is likely to continue well into the fall.
In the near term, adapting to the new traffic patterns will be an inconvenience for many.
And while drivers may see less orange, frustrations over mapping out a new route to get where they’re going may cause them to see more red.
But as with other area roadway revisions, people eventually will get used to it.
