It is as though a large part of Trinity Valley School’s institutional memory died along with Dennis Fleming, one administrator said.
Mr. Fleming, assistant head of school, teacher, coach, announcer and former head of the upper school, died Friday of a heart attack, a friend said. He was 63."He had a mind that was truly remarkable," said Gary Krahn, TVS head of school. "People would call him years after a student left the school and he would remember that the student was on the baseball and football teams, his batting average, what he scored in the third quarter in a particular football game. We would open up the record books and check, and invariably, he was right."Mr. Fleming was hired in 1977 as a history teacher and became head of the upper school in 1988. Krahn said students in his history class seldom used books but left mastering the subject because of Mr. Fleming’s storytelling ability."His passing too soon was devastating for our Trinity Valley community," Krahn said. "We thought Dennis would be with us forever because we cared so much about him."
