2 women elbowed after youth soccer game
HURST — Two women were assaulted after a youth soccer match Sunday afternoon at a Hurst park, police said Monday. The victims — a 20-year-old Lake Dallas woman and a 46-year-old Hickory Creek woman — were elbowed, but they were not seriously injured, Hurst police said. The incident happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. at Hurst Community Park at Pipeline and Precinct Line roads. Game officials called police after parents got into a heated argument. A 27-year-old North Richland Hills man is accused of walking through the group and striking the women, according to a police report. It was the second reported incident of violent behavior by adults in two weeks at sporting events in Northeast Tarrant County. In Grapevine on Nov. 1, an adult soccer player kicked a referee after being penalized and then ran into nearby woods, Grapevine police said Monday. That incident happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at a soccer field at Meadowmere Park near Lake Grapevine.— Domingo Ramirez Jr. Authorities confirm 17th H1N1 death in Dallas CountyDallas County public health officials have confirmed that a 51-year-old man who died recently was infected with H1N1 influenza. The man, who had underlying medical conditions, is Dallas County’s 17th confirmed H1N1-related death. Tarrant County has confirmed six H1N1 deaths. The counties have given the H1N1 vaccine at recent clinics and have not received more doses. The public is being urged to contact a private physician for the vaccine. Private providers in Tarrant County have ordered 113,083 doses; the figure is 199,419 in Dallas County. The event, sponsored by Spokes 4 Hope, will be at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Hilton Dallas/Southlake Town Square, 1400 Plaza Place. About 40 officers are scheduled to participate in the event, which features a motorcycle training competition.
