North Texas has another hot day in store today and Friday is looking even hotter.
Today’s high is expected to reach 96 degrees, with a heat index value of 105 degrees. The day’s low of 78 degrees came and went at dawn.
The normal high for this time of year is 91 degrees with a low of 71, National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Dunn said.
“We’re a little more humid than we usually are, which is why the heat index values are so high,” he said.
People should avoid going outside from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., he said.
The biggest problem every summer are children and pets left in hot vehicles, he said.
“You don’t even need a heat advisory for that. It only takes a few minutes for bad things to happen,” Dunn said.
Friday is shaping up as the hottest day yet, with a forecast high of 100 degrees, he said.
