For Veterans Day, a pleasant forecast and plenty to do

The weather was expected to be near perfect for Veterans Day events in and around Tarrant County Wednesday, highlighted by the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Fort Worth.

Paradegoers were greeted with sunny skies.

The parade was to at 10 a.m. at LaGrave Field and go south on North Main Street to downtown before returning.

This year’s theme was Honoring the Military History of Fort Worth. Many veterans wwere expected to review the 5,000 parade participants, which were to include members of veterans posts, patriotic floats, and school drill teams and bands.

Taps was t be sounded at 11 a.m.

Other events

Military and civic leaders were to celebrate Wednesday morning at Liberty Park, 5825 Holiday Lane in North Richland Hills.

A dedication of Saginaw’s Veterans Memorial at Kiwanis Park, on the south side of Fire Station No. 1 on Saginaw Boulevard, was to begin at 5:30 p.m.

What’s closed

Most federal offices are closed today for the holiday, as well as post offices and banks.
