A Glen Rose man died early Monday from injuries he received in a motorcycle wreck, officials said.

James Slyder, 40, was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

The wreck was reported at 1:03 a.m. in the 300 block of Paluxy Street on the south side of Glen Rose, said Lt. Anders Dahl of the Somervell County Sheriff's Office.

"We got a call from a citizen saying there had been a motorcycle wreck," Dahl said.

No other vehicles were involved and Slyder was the only person on the 2002 Kawasaki, he said.

Slyder was riding southbound on Paluxy Street "at a high rate of speed" when he lost control in curve, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety which investigated the wreck.

The motorcycle hit a curb, then a rock wall, the DPS reported. The medical examiner reported that Slyder was ejected from the motorcycle.

The DPS also stated that Slyder did not wear a helmet.

Slyder was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, where he was pronounced dead at 3:57 a.m., the medical examiner reported.
