WATAUGA -- A second-grade teacher in the Keller school district was placed on paid administrative leave Thursday more than a week after she was arrested on suspicion of driving in a dangerous manner in Watauga.

Police identified the teacher as Emilee Crow, 55, of Fort Worth.

Crow could not be reached Thursday for comment.

According to police reports, Crow was stopped about 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 in the 6200 block of Bursey Road for an expired inspection sticker but became belligerent with a Watauga motorcycle officer, cursing at him.

The officer’s audio recorder captured the conversation, the reports state.

At some point, she got into her car, peeled away and then backed up her car near the officer’s motorcycle, the reports state.

During her booking into jail, the officer smelled alcohol and she told authorities that she had had some drinks the night before, according to the reports.

“She wasn’t intoxicated,” Watauga Detective Jason Babcock said Thursday. “It was determined that the alcohol wasn’t an issue and it didn’t contribute to her behavior.”

A Keller school district official confirmed that Crow is a second-grade teacher at Willis Lane Elementary School in Keller. She has been with the district since 1989.

Keller school district spokesman Bryce Nieman said broadcast television reports about the case played a role in the district placing the teacher on leave.

"There is no formal investigation but we are looking into it. It is usually a private matter but when it was picked up and became public it was viewed as a distraction to the learning process," Nieman said.

A substitute teacher is handling Crow's class.

School officials did not make any additional comments because it is a personnel matter
