An overturned truck that was carrying a hazardous material has been cleared from Farm Road 156 west of Alliance Airport, according to a report.

The wreck had blocked FM 156 in both directions for nearly eight hours, but it was cleared up by 9:30 a.m., according to traffic.com.

The truck, which was hauling a trailer, overturned around 1:40 a.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Intermodal Parkway and FM 156, also called Blue Mound Road, according to a police report.

An ambulance was sent to the scene, but no one had to go to the hospital, a MedStar dispatcher said.

An initial police report stated that the rig was hauling carbon disulfide, which is used in various industrial processes.

Breathing it at very high levels "can be life threatening because of its effects on the nervous system," according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The wreckage blocked traffic until clean up crews, including HAZMAT workers, could clear the roadway, traffic.com reported.

Southbound traffic was diverted at Eagle Parkway at the north end of Alliance Airport, traffic.com reported.

At the same time, northbound traffic was being diverted at Westport Parkway, which is in Haslet, according to traffic.com.
