A blown power transformer ignited fires at two north Arlington apartment complexes early Tuesday morning.

No one was injured in the fire, however, several residents were evacuated from the apartments, said Arlington Fire Marshal Stephen Lea.

The apartment complexes, the Creek at Brook Hollow and The Lake of the Woods, are on Brown Boulevard, just west of Texas 360.

Lea said a nearby electrical line sent a surge through both apartment buildings shortly after midnight. The surge burned the wiring inside the walls of the complexes.

Lea estimated the damage to both building at about $100,000 total.
