Police are investigating whether two robberies that occurred Monday in the same area of downtown Fort Worth are related.

The first robbery occurred at 11:35 a.m. at the City Streets club in the 400 block of Commerce.

About an hour later a man walked into the Ferre Restaurant in the 200 block of East Fourth Street and attempted to force an employee to open the safe at the restaurant.

Because of the proximity of the two locations, police are investigating whether the two robberies could be the work of the same man.

In the City Streets robbery, a 40-year-old female employee was locked in an office after she was tied up with a plastic cord around her arms.

She told police that around 11:30 a.m., she was working inside the business when a man wielding a knife grabbed her. The man held the knife to her throat and demanded that she open the safe, according to police. The man pushed the employee and shoved several bank bags into his black satchel before leaving the business, police said.

In the Ferre Restaurant robbery, the suspect walked into the back office of the business, held an unknown object to the female employee’s neck and demanded that she open the safe, according to police.

After the employee told the man that she did not have the code to the safe, the man left the restaurant in an unknown direction without any loot.
