The Cliburn announced Thursday night that American pianist and educator Lydia Artymiw will replace Italian pianist Fabio Bidini as a juror in the First Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, which begins Sunday.
In a written statement, the Fort Worth-based foundation said, “Mr. Bidini is unable to travel to the United States in time for the Competition due to the current global technical issues of the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs.”
Artymiw is the distinguished McKnight professor of piano at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. An accomplished chamber musician, she has collaborated with, among others, Yo-Yo Ma.
