Arlington lawyer Ball won’t run for district attorney

Three candidates have filed to succeed Joe Shannon when his term ends next year.

Defense attorney Wes Ball announced this week that he won’t join the race for Tarrant County district attorney.

So far, three candidates have formally filed to run for the post that Joe Shannon will vacate at the end of his term next year.

Ball, whose criminal law practice is based in Arlington, never formally filed paperwork.

Republicans Kathy Lowthorp, George Mackey and Sharen Wilson have filed to run.

In a statement released this week, Ball threw his support behind Mackey.
