A former Hurst Junior High math teacher kept a relationship going with two of his students at the same time for about 10 months, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Thursday.
The affidavit says Timothy Flasik, provided alcohol and marijuana to one 15-year-old he had sex with, and also had a threesome with both girls after one of them had turned 16.
Flasik, 27, was arrested Aug. 7 at his Dallas apartment at 4849 Frankford Road. He faces two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student and two counts of sexual assault of a child.
He posted bond shortly after his arrest and was freed from jail. Flasik could not be reached Thursday.
The relationships took place at an apartment where Flasik lived at the time in the 2800 block of Village Circle in Bedford, police Lt. David Smith said in a Thursday news release.
Before authorities began to investigate in July, Flasik had resigned from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district at the end of the 2013-14 school year, and had been hired at Plano West High School, according to the affidavit.
Hurst-Euless-Bedford school officials were alerted to the cases this week, Smith said, and have been cooperating with detectives.
The affidavit gave a brief account of the case:
A student accompanied by her mother contacted Hurst police July 29 about an ongoing sexual relationship between Flasik and one of his students. That student had told a friend about the relationship.
During the interview, Hurst police learned a second student was involved with Flasik and that all the meetings occurred at his apartment in Bedford. Hurst police then alerted Bedford detectives, who continued the investigation.
A girl told a police interview Aug. 4 that Flasik had been her ninth-grade algebra teacher and that they first began conversations on Facebook.
She said Flasik drove her to his Bedford apartment and they had sex more than 20 times, including the threesome.
The second student told officials she first had sex with Flasik when she was 15.
He was hired by the HEB district in January 2012 as a teacher at Hurst Junior High School and remained there until he resigned June 3, according to school records. He had notified school officials on April 15 that he would resign at the end of the school year.
“Immediately upon being notified of the allegations on Aug. 13, district officials contacted the appropriate authorities at the Texas Education Agency and offered full cooperation to the Bedford Police Department,” school district spokeswoman Judy Everett Ramos said Thursday in an email. “Because student and staff safety is the top priority in HEB ISD, all teachers receive annual training on ethical behavior, sexual harassment and the reporting of such.”
School officials said anyone with information on the case should call HEB ISD Human Resources Department at 817-399-2016.
