Speed and alcohol may have been factors in a fatal wreck involving two motorcycles and a Jeep early Friday, police said.
The two motorcyclists were westbound in the 1700 block of Mansfield Webb Road about midnight when one rear-ended a Jeep, Sgt. Jeffrey Houston, an Arlington police spokesman, said in a news release.
The second motorcycle veered off the road and struck a tree. The rider was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. His condition could not be learned Friday afternoon.
The motorcyclist who hit the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:19 a.m. He was identified as John Lee, 42, by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. His town of residence was not listed.
The Jeep driver was uninjured, the release said.
Investigators were at the scene for more than five hours collecting evidence. Speed and alcohol may have played a role, the release said.
It was the fourth traffic fatality in a week in Arlington.
