One wounded by gunshot, another hurt in Grapevine dispute

A man was arrested Tuesday night after a domestic dispute left one man wounded and a woman hurt, Grapevine police say.

A 42-year-old Grapevine man who was trying to stop a fight between a couple was shot Tuesday night in the parking lot of a Grapevine apartment complex, Grapevine police said Wednesday.

The man, whom police did not immediately identify, was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A 32-year-old woman also was injured during the assault and was taken to Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine.

Highland Village police arrested Aaron William Lephart, 36, of California a short time after the shooting.

The shooting was reported about 10 p.m. in the 3800 block of Grapevine Mills Parkway in the parking lot of the Camden Riverwalk Apartments, according to Grapevine police Sgt. Robert Eberling.

Lephart is accused of assaulting his girlfriend in the parking lot and then shooting the 42-year-old man when he tried to intervene.

After the shooting, Lephart drove away, but Highland Village police spotted the vehicle that the California man was driving and stopped it, police said. Lephart was arrested without incident. He was in the Grapevine Jail Wednesday with bail set at $100,000.

Lephart faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Grapevine police said.
