4-year-old boy wounded in Fort Worth shooting

The child suffered a minor gunshot wound at a home on Destin Drive in far north Fort Worth, police said.

A 4-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon after he apparently shot himself, according to preliminary police reports.

The shooting was reported just after 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Destin Drive in far north Fort Worth.

A caller told a dispatcher that a little boy had shot himself. Police listed his age as 4 years old but gave no other details.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said the boy suffered a grazing gunshot wound.

He was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Crimes Against Children’s Unit were investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made, said Fort Worth police spokeswoman Sharron Neal on Tuesday in an email.
