Weatherford teen dies from car crash injuries

A 16-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon at a Fort Worth hospital from injuries he suffered in a July 23 car crash in Parker County that injured six other teens.

A Weatherford teen critically injured last week in a one-car crash in Parker County died Tuesday afternoon at a Fort Worth hospital, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Jordan Paredes, 16, who was pronounced dead at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Paredes was rushed to the Fort Worth hospital on the morning of July 23 after he was ejected from a car in the Parker County wreck. Paredes was one of seven teens in the car at the time of the crash. Five of the seven, including Paredes, were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions were unavailable Wednesday.

The wreck occurred about 1 a.m. on July 23 on Dennis Road near Farm Market 1189 in Parker County.

A 19-year-old Alvarado man was driving a 1994 Ford Taurus south on Dennis Road when he failed to make a curve, drove into a grassy field and hit two trees. The driver and Paredes were ejected from the car.

Alcohol was one of the factors in the wreck, according to Texas Department of Publc Safety reports.

Buddy Barnes, 19, has been charged with driving while intoxicated, and he now faces additional charges, said DPS Trooper Lonny Haschel on Wednesday.
