A woman was shot to death in the alley of an Arlington business Sunday afternoon by a man who then fatally shot himself, authorities said.

Arlington investigators believe the incident was a domestic dispute between the couple.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the woman as Maria Ojeda, 46, of Arlington, who was pronounced dead at 2:11 p.m. Sunday. The suspect was identified as Hector Acosta, 50, who died at 4:06 p.m. Sunday at an Arlington hospital.

Officers responded to the shooting call about 2 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of E. Abram Street in Arlington. Police found a woman dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers also found a man with a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital where he died. Witnesses told investigators that the man shot the woman and then tried to commit suicide.

Detectives continued to interview witnesses Sunday afternoon, trying to determine what led to the shooting.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting.
