Man faces intoxication manslaughter charge in fatal Bedford wreck

The suspect, Assis Silva, 30, was released from jail Sunday after posting a $20,000 bond in the case.

A 30-year-old man faces an intoxication manslaughter charge after a one-vehicle wreck Saturday morning in Bedford that killed a passenger in his car.

The wreck occurred in the 2800 block of Highway 183.

According to Bedford police, a 2012 Kia driven by 30-year-old Assis Silva of Bedford was westbound on the highway when he lost control of the car. The Kia struck a guardrail, then flipped, police said.

Marcos Ribeiro, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:25 a.m.

Silva was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter. He was released Sunday after posting a $20,000 bond.
