A Flower Mound teen died Sunday after she crashed a go-kart in the parking lot of Texas Motor Speedway, police said.
Authorities did not release her identity, but local television stations identified the girl as Kierstin Eaddy, 14, of Flower Mound.
The teen was critically injured Sunday morning and taken by helicopter ambulance to a local hospital, where she died.
“It is unknown if she lost control because of a medical reason or if there was mechanical failure,” Fort Worth police spokeswoman Sharron Neal said Sunday in an email.
Officers and paramedics were on scene at the TMS parking lot shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday.
Police noted that she had been racing when the crash occurred.
The Flower Mound teen had been in a timed event and crossed the finish line, but she failed to stop and crashed, according to television reports.
No other injuries were reported.
