Police arrested the suspect Saturday in the stabbing death of another man early Wednesday.
Billy Wayne Jarrett, 55, was in the Grand Prairie Jail on a charge of murder, police said. Bail was set at $100,000.
Officers made the arrest after a resident called in a tip Saturday morning, a police spokesman said.
Police responded to a 911 call at about 1:10 a.m. Wednesday about a man on the roadway at Beltline Road near Palace Parkway. Guadalupe Tanguma, 47, appeared to have been stabbed in the chest and was pronounced dead at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, authorities said.
Police searched a nearby wooded area where investigators believe the assault occurred. Based on items found there and witness accounts, police obtained a warrant for Jarrett, a homeless man who frequents the area.
