Man shot and killed in Fort Worth, police say

A fight in a convenience store parking lot at Northwest 28th Street and McKinley Avenue led to the shooting, witnesses tell police.

A man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he was shot and then run over by a car in a convenience store parking lot in north Fort Worth, authorities reported.

The man was pronounced dead at an area hospital, officer Sharron Neal, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman, said. He had not been identified by Tuesday evening.

Officers responded about 4:30 p.m. to 911 calls from 1700 Northwest 28th Street. They found the man lying in the parking lot of Que Paso Food Store with multiple gunshot wounds, Neal said. Witnesses said the victim had a verbal altercation with another person who shot him and then ran over him with his car. The suspect fled eastbound on NW 28th.

Police were searching the area and interviewing witnesses, Neal said. No arrests had been made by Tuesday night.

An elderly woman who witnessed the shooting and suffered a medical reaction was treated and released, said MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky.
