Motorist killed in Fort Worth wreck

A motorist was killed early Tuesday when his car collided with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35W near Loop 820 in north Fort Worth, police said.

The motorist, whose name had not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred about 12:25 a.m. Tuesday in the 5100 block of Interstate 35W near North Loop 820 in the southbound lanes.

The motorist’s Toyota Corolla was southbound on the highway when it struck the 18-wheeler, Fort Worth police Capt. Scott Conn said in an email Tuesday. No one else was in the car.

The truck driver was not injured, police said.

Southbound lanes of the highway were shut down for more than four hours Tuesday morning as authorities investigated the fatal crash.
