Fort Worth man arrested last month in a 2007 homicide has been released

Dredrick Wayne Thomas, 36, was arrested in May as a suspect in the fatal shooting of Clinton Miller in 2007. Thomas remains a person of interest in the case, police say.

A man arrested in May in a 2007 slaying has been released from jail, police said Thursday.

Dredrick Wayne Thomas, 36, of Fort Worth, was arrested May 8 in the fatal shooting of Clinton Miller on April 5, 2007.

Thomas’ case has not been given to the Tarrant County district attorney’s office for formal charges. He remains a person of interest in the ongoing investigation, police said.

Police declined to discuss further information about the investigation.

Miller was shot as he walked out of a residence in the 4700 block of Forbes Court, according to a police report. A police officer responding to a 911 shooting call found Miller on the ground with three women trying to help him. He was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital.

Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like gunfire and seeing two people wearing hooded sweatshirts run east from the house, the report said.

Four officers went into the house to search for suspects or other victims but found none, the report said.
