Pedestrian killed crossing highway in Fort Worth identified

A 29-year-old man was killed early Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle as he attempted to cross a highway, police said.

A man killed early Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle as he tried to cross a highway has been identified as Adrian Gallegos of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.

Gallegos, 29, died from his injuries and his death was ruled an accident, medical examiner officials ruled. He was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m. Sunday.

The accident was reported shortly before 3 a.m. in the 2500 block of Jackboro Highway. The motorist stopped after the accident, and a preliminary report indicated that no charges were expected to be filed against the driver.

Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident, police said.

Westbound lanes of Jacksboro Highway were closed for more than four hours Sunday morning as authorities investigated.
