A gunman walked up to another man and opened fire on him early Wednesday at an apartment complex in east Fort Worth and then fled, police said.
The 20-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
No arrest had been reported as of 8 a.m.
The shooting call came in about 1:10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cavile Place apartments in the 5000 block of Avenue G in east Fort Worth.
Witnesses told police that the victim was hanging out at the complex with other people when the gunman strolled up to him and fired.
The shooter and several other people ran from the scene, police Capt. Scott Conn said in an email Wednesday morning.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
