Man killed on Texas 10 in Hurst after exiting moving car, police say

The 25-year-old man apparently became angry, opened the door of a moving car, got out and was hit by a passing vehicle, police said.

A 25-year-old man was killed Saturday night on Texas 10 in Hurst after he exited a moving car and then was hit by a passing vehicle.

Fleonard Cummings of Hurst died at 9:29 p.m. at the scene in the 700 block of Texas 10, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office said.

The man “had gotten into an argument and walked away from a residence,” said Hurst Assistant Police Chief Steve Niekamp on Sunday. “A woman at the residence got into a car, drove out and picked him up.”

The man apparently again got angry and exited the moving Dodge Neon, that was eastbound in the middle lane, Niekamp said.

“He came to rest lying in the outside lane, where he was struck by a Ford Taurus,” Niekamp said.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, and no criminal charges are expected, Niekamp said.
