A 36-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested Thursday in a seven-year-old homicide case, police reported.
Dredrick Wayne Thomas was in the Mansfield jail Friday night facing a murder charge. Bail was set at $75,000, the jail log said
Investigators declined to say why they linked Thomas to the slaying of Clinton Emanuel Miller, 21, who was shot in the back about 2 a.m. April 5, 2007, as he walked out of a residence in the 4700 block of Forbes Court.
A police officer responding to a 911 shooting call found Miller on the ground with three women trying to help him. He was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. at John Peter Smith Hospital.
Four officers went into the home to search for suspects or other victims but found none, the report said. Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like gunfire and seeing two people wearing hooded sweatshirts run to the east from the home, the report said.
Thomas’ criminal record includes unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon for which he was sentenced in 2007 to six years in prison. In 1996, he was sentenced to eight years in prison for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, district clerk records show.
