A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon at a Grand Prairie intersection when he ran a red light and collided with a car, Grand Prairie police said Sunday.
The victim was identified as Christian Brown, 23, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, Kenya Kelly, 32, of Grand Prairie, and a 33-year-old passenger were taken to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.
Grand Prairie police responded to the report of a major accident about 5:35 p.m. Saturday at Texas 360 and New York Avenue in Grand Prairie.
According to police reports, Brown was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle at high speed south on the highway when he ran the red light and hit the driver’s-side door of a 2007 Kia Optima. Brown was thrown about 300 feet, police said.
The Kia had proceeded into the intersection on a green light, police said.
The traffic fatality was the first of the year in Grand Prairie.
