A 30-year-old man pleaded guilty to murder Monday in the shooting of two men who were trying to prevent a fight.
Jodie Jamar Williams of Fort Worth was sentenced in state District Judge George Gallagher’s court to 10 years in prison for murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The sentence was the result of a plea bargain.
In an unrelated case, Williams pleaded guilty and received a 10-year sentence Monday for assaulting a female family member in June. Court records show that Williams had an assault conviction in 2008 for assaulting the same woman.
Williams will serve the sentences simultaneously, a spokeswoman with the Tarrant County district attorney’s office said.
Williams was arrested in August after a murder warrant was issued. The shooting occurred shortly before 5 a.m. July 13 at the Antigua Village Apartments in the 5300 block of East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth.
David Willis, 28, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds in the abdomen.
The other man, identified in an indictment as Michael Hill, 27, survived.
