Home near Saginaw burns to ground

Everyone got out safely, though the fire burned undetected in the attic for some time.

A 5,000-square-foot home in an unincorporated area northeast of Saginaw was destroyed by fire Saturday morning, but everyone in the home escaped when the blaze broke out, said Tarrant County Deputy Fire Marshal Mike Rehfeld.

“One firefighter received a small burn, but was treated and released on the scene,” Rehfeld said.

No cause has been found for the fire at 816 Chastien Court that started in the attic about 10:30 a.m., Rehfeld said.

“It burned undiscovered for a while and had already burned through the roof when firefighters arrived,” he said.

The homeowners are insured and have family in the Saginaw area to take care of them, Rehfeld said.

No other structures were in danger, Rehfeld said.

“That 25 mph wind gave the guys a heck of a time trying to control the fire,” he said. “Brush trucks were on the back side of the house to make sure nothing got away.” — Terry Evans
