A woman with dementia and high blood pressure who was reported missing Thursday was found shortly before midnight driving around Haltom City.

When found, Helen Rivers, 83, appeared to be disoriented but in good physical condition, according to a news release from Cpl. Joe Hackfeld, police spokesman. Rivers had apparently become lost and was trying to get back home, the release said.

Rivers left the Haltom Senior Center on Bernice Street about 1 p.m. and planned to stop at the Kroger store on U.S. 377, Rivers’ daughter told police.

“The family believes she may have come home after leaving Kroger, due to some groceries found at Helen’s residence,” Hackfeld said.

There were no signs of foul play in the house, but a Silver Alert was issued for her because she “suffers from dementia and high blood pressure, and she is on several medications,” Hackfeld said.
