Teen thwarts abduction attempt in Haltom City

A man grabbed the arms of a 19-year-old woman Wednesday, but she escaped when she screamed for help, police said.

A 19-year-old woman’s scream for help prevented her from being abducted in Haltom City Wednesday morning, police said.

The teen told police that she was walking home when a man in a truck drove up beside her and offered her a ride. When she refused, the man stopped his truck, got out of his vehicle and grabbed her arms, trying to get her into his truck, Haltom City police said in a news release.

When she yelled, another vehicle stopped forcing her attacker to retreat into his vehicle and drive away, police said.

The incident was reported shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 4100 block of Denton Highway in Haltom City.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his 30s, with short light brown hair with some gray and facial hair.

The witness told Haltom City investigators that the truck is a green Chevrolet Silverado extended cab with tools in the back and trash on the dashboard.

Anyone with information should call Haltom City police at 817-222-7000.
