▪ About Peaster: This is their fifth state tournament appearance and first since 2009. They have yet to win a title and last reached the championship match in 1993. Ranked No. 1 in the state, they have have won 31 straight since a 2-0 loss to Class 5A Denton on Aug. 22. Of their wins, 41 have been sweeps, including 15 consecutive matches and all five in the playoffs. Only once did they go five games in winning a match, 3-2 over perennial power Decatur. Roster features only one senior. Team leaders are sophomore Kennedy Warren (473 kills, 102 blocks), sophomore Taryn Cast (349 kills, 95 blocks), junior Rachael Gustafson (58 aces, 468 assists), junior McKenna Ballard (56 aces, 248 digs, 813 assists) and sophomore Baylee Hull (293 digs).
▪ About Goliad: This is the first state tournament in the history of the Lady Tigerettes. They are ranked fourth in the state.

About Denver City: Fourth state tournament in their history and first since 2005. They last reached the state finals in 1976. Ranked No. 5 in the state.
About Leon: The Lady Cougars are ranked third in the state and are regulars at the state tournament. They have won nine state championships, the most recent being 2012. They have also finished second eight times.
