Aledo Bearcats (7-1, 5-0 in District 8-5A) at Granbury Pirates (1-7, 1-4 in District 8-5A) Preview
▪ When: 7:30 p.m. Friday
▪ Players to watch: Aledo - RB Caleb Primer, RB Donnie Evans. Granbury - QB Kyler Young, DB Landon Gray.
▪ Outlook: Good luck finding two more different programs in Texas. One is going to the playoffs for a 20th straight season and the other hasn't won a playoff game since Lyndon B. Johnson was president (1967). A victory gives Aledo an eighth straight district championship. Primer (854 yards, 16 TD) and Evans (630 yards, 11 TD) will be facing one of the worst run defenses to be found (Granbury surrenders over 350 rushing yards per game). Young (1,130, 8 TD,3 int.) has provided most of the offensive highlights for the Pirates this season. A win would also be the 60th straight in district for Aledo, a streak that includes having outscored Granbury 194-6 over the past three seasons. The Bearcats lead the all-time series with the Pirates 6-4, with the Pirates' last win coming in 1981.
Never miss a local story.
