Former Weatherford College pitchers Ryan Talley and Dustin Emmons have signed free agent contracts with Major League Baseball organizations.

Talley has signed to join the Los Angeles Angels organization and Emmons has joined the Atlanta Braves farm system.

Talley, an Aledo High School graduate, is now playing with the Angels’ rookie league team in Tempe, Ari. After playing for WC in 2011 and 2012, he spent two years playing at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Emmons, a Mansfield native who graduated from Southwest Christian School in Fort Worth, played part of the 2014 collegiate summer league season with the Edenton (North Carolina) Steamers in the Coastal Plain League. He spent 2012 and 2013 with the Coyotes.

Ten former WC players are currently playing professional baseball, including Jake Arrieta, a starter for the Chicago Cubs.
